First Focus Group Meeting Held (July 8, 2015)
PuebloPlex and the project consultant, Matrix Design Group, hosted the first of 2 Project Focus Group Meetings for the PuebloPlex Redevelopment Plan on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce, 320 N. Santa Fe Avenue, Pueblo, Colorado. Community stakeholders invited to the Focus Group meeting included City of Pueblo employees, Pueblo County employees, Pueblo and Latino Chamber of Commerce representatives, and local subject matter experts.
The first Focus Group meeting was geared at assessing land use, transportation and infrastructure issues associated with the future development of PuebloPlex. The meeting included a presentation highlighting key components of the project including what the project was about, why the project is important to the Pueblo community, and an overview of the project’s existing conditions assessment. The participants played an important role in an interactive exercise identifying the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) associated with land use, transportation, infrastructure, economic development and environment and their impacts on future redevelopment of the PuebloPlex.
Input from stakeholders and subject matter experts is critical in the redevelopment planning process. This focus group meeting was the first of two to be held for the Redevelopment Plan. The second focus group meeting is planned to be held in the fall of 2015, which will focus on Economic and Market sectors.
